Sarah had been up since 5am to make sure she was ready bright and early for the moment Matt first sees her in her gorgeous wedding dress at Humber Arboretum, the site of their ceremony and their first look photos. For those who haven't been to Humber Arboretum, it's a stunning botanical garden hidden behind the grounds of Humber College, and a very popular spot for wedding photography in Toronto. In the few hours we spent there that afternoon, we saw numerous bridal parties arrive there for their couple portraits, family photos, and first look pictures; however, Sarah and Matt were the only couple actually getting married there that day and it created for a wonderful and intimate experience, free of outside distractions and noise.
After the ceremony, the bridal party and the families gathered for photos, and while it threatened to rain the entire time we were doing the post-ceremony photos, we managed to escape the rain with just a few drops. By the time we were ready for the couple photos, the sun was back out and creating gorgeous lighting in the adjacent forest. You may remember the hike we took with Sarah and Matt for their engagement photos at Decew Falls in St Catherines, where we trekked through a muddy forest trail to find just the right spot for their photos. Well, they brought their adventurous spirits to their wedding as well and happily followed us into the forest, wedding dress and all, to chase the light and capture the perfect photo.
Once we emerged from the forest, we headed over to Crystal Grand Banquet Hall for the party, where Diego and I were treated to a surprise!! Sarah and Matt are huge Rock & Roll fans, and so their wedding was, of course, a Rock & Roll themed wedding!! Everything from their own personalized logos, the table numbers, the seating arrangement, the wedding cake, and even the signing guitar (yes, they had a real guitar for guests to sign instead of a book), was Rock & Roll themed! Even Sarah's bridal bouquet was not traditional and was handmade by Sarah, who included skulls into her bouquet, and then incorporated that as well into the wedding decor with skulls popping up on the dessert table! They did such an awesome job carrying through their vision, and it was made even better by the gorgeous Crystal Grand Banquet Hall and the sweet lights DJ Jarett brought along with him.
For the rest of the night, everyone went crazy on the dance floor. DJ Jarett is a friend and coworker of Matt's and he truly brought it down with the music, incorporating Sarah and Matt's favorite rock songs and playing tons of oldies and party favorites! We've never seen so many people out on the dance floor having fun with the bride and groom. Even we couldn't help it but jump around with the rest of them. We came home exhausted but exhilarated, and excited to see all the cool photos we captured throughout the wedding day, especially the party photos! Thank you Sarah and Matt for the best time! Rock on!
